VIDEO INSTALLATION

double mirrors, digital filmmaking and live feed, 2018.

Description:
double mirrors explores resiliency in the face of racial profiling. I use medical and surgical instruments as metaphors for racial profiling, and I re-contextualize these tools to denote the resilience and perseverance of the brown body against white forces. In predominantly white spaces, these forces impact the body and try to condition people of color. I invite the viewer to experience the piece at their will, and reflect on where they stand, physically and introspectively, to the video content. The viewers look at themselves, and may become aware of their passive bystandership - and perpetratorship – when observing the content provided.
